Connecting, reconnecting and disconnecting

What a lovely weekend I have spent connecting with nature, reconnecting with old friends and disconnecting from my cell phone.  Lunch on Friday was with an old friend (for the record, neither one of us is old).  It is such a lovely feeling to reconnect with a person after too many years apart, to find the friendship is still there, the history is still current and the qualities that you loved in that person back then have only been concentrated.

We drove out to the Whitecliffs camping ground at the base of the Southern Alps, Paul was also reconnecting with his family.  What a beautiful and peaceful spot, fantails shared many stories with us as we walked by the river. The only negative was that there was no cell phone coverage.  Whilst in some regards it was a blessing to disconnect from the world wide web this weekend just before we are due to launch, it felt like a hindrance for me to our  business.  We have been ready to launch for a few months now, products are made and ready to sell, business cards are in our wallets ready to be handed out and all our sample balms with cards are ready and good to go.  In traditional business we have been ready to open the shop doors weeks ago but todays' business model is so very different, we need to be "live" to reach our designated audience. Our Facebook page is waiting to be published, I have started Instagram (which is super cool way of connecting with like-minded people) and our website is one or several clicks away from being a real live site. If you can't find us on Google, then we don't really exist but as I sit under a tree and hand write this blog, I'm listening to kids playing, people chatting and birds singing, and it reminds me of how simple life can be.  It's about connecting with people and reconnecting with nature.

But, if we hadn't clicked the buttons to go "live", then you wouldn't be reading this blog, so reconnecting to old friends, beautiful places and the web is all good on Sunday evening, while reflecting on the weekend passed.   #happy
